  CHI CHI - THE CHIMPANZEE  

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ: This topic consists of a number of activities. Some activities are supported by exercises on paper which can be downloaded and printed out, others are onscreen and interactive. The activities are designed to be followed sequentially, as each activity builds on content and language knowledge acquired in the previous activity.

ACTIVITIES:

LISTEN TO THE STORY - Vocabulary exercises.

Talking book - listen to the story. Has text and illustraions to support the reading.

Requires Shockwave Player to work. May take a little time to download depending on the speed of your internet connection. Make sure the sound on your computer is turned on and is set at a suitable volume.

Find-a-word exercise - key words from the story. Includes answer sheet. Print this document (click image).

Requires Acrobat Reader to print out word find.

Labelling exercise - (1) Students label drawings from the story. (2) Spelling exercise - singular & plural forms of vocabulary items from story. Print this document (click image).

Requires Acrobat Reader to print out labelling activity.
Sight words activity. The story of Chi Chi contains most of the highest occurring sights words used in English. This exercise supports students in acquiring these sight words. Students must match the word with its sound. They may practise the sounds before attempting the activity. the activity logs all incorrect attempts and dispays them at the end of the exercise for the students to practise.
